Areas of Practice
India is emerging as an arbitration hub with government impetus into promoting modes of alternate dispute resolution in order to improve India’s ranking as far as ease of conducting business is concerned. We have managed several arbitrations successfully both for and against large corporations. This brings in a level of competence and experience necessary to see through matters till a favourable resolution.
divorce & family law
With an unprecedented increase in divorce matters in India, there has been a vacuum of technically adept counsel as family law is often considered a “soft“ area of practice that does not require the level of proficiency required in commercial litigations for instance.
We have a dedicated family law practice and have handled a substantial number of clients in divorce, custody and dowry harassment cases. We bring in the same level of expertise and strategy employed by us in our commercial and criminal law matters.
Divorce and family law matters have now become increasingly complex with dozens of legislation operating in this sphere. We have a highly specialised family law practice and regularly work with some of the senior-most family law lawyers in India.
We appear before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) as well as before Company Courts constituted in District Courts where certain types of company matters are heard. We have represented clients in insolvency matters under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2017. We are also adept at representing directors in criminal prosecutions and shareholders in shareholder disputes.
civil litigation + Property law
Civil litigation which includes the domain of property law and litigation on properties (both residential and commercial). We hold the distinction on having represented senior lawyers in their personal property matters.
We are also experienced in conducting property due diligence and drafting deeds and agreements for large transactions which have given us substantial insight into the practice of property litigation.
On the civil original side, we have handled a wide and varied array of matters and are experts in conducting civil trials, a skill that is often lost by those practising in the Supreme Court and in the Appellate and Writ Divisions of the High Court.
Indian courts have become increasingly pro-consumer and we have a parallel system of courts under the Consumer Protection Act which deals solely with consumer-related matters. We appear regularly in the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) where we have handled cases successfully against large banks and builders alike with a high rate of success. We occasionally appear in State Consumer Commissions as well.
criminal trials, bails & appeals
In addition to conducting trials in Sessions Courts for serious offences such as murder and trials before the Metropolitan Magistrates for offences such as cheating, defamation etc.
We also have several specialised and niche areas of criminal law practice including: corruption cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act, narcotics law under the NDPS Act, crimes involving juveniles under the Juvenile Justice Act and crimes involving sexual offences against children under the POCSO Act.
Further, since our inception, we have dedicated a substantial amount of time handling pro bono matters and have represented several minor victims of heinous offences such as gang rape and rape with murder. You may find out more about our pro bono matters here.
